Re-opening of play areas

The play areas at Cornsay village green and Cornsay Colliery park have now been re-opened.

Scientific advice suggests that the Covid-19 virus can survive for several days on some hard surfaces.  The risks are reduced when outdoors and while all practical measures have been put in place, the user of this play area and equipment and facilities within it does so at their own risk.

If using the play areas, please remember the following points:

  • Maintain a distance of 2 metres between yourself and others including when using equipment eg pushing swings
  • Sanitise your hands before, during and after using the equipment or facilities eg after opening gates or using seats or litter bins

  • Wash your hands thoroughly when you get home

  • Avoid touching your face with unwashed hands
  • Do not enter the play area if you are unwell eg high temperature, cough or shortness of breath

  • Do not enter the play area is it is too busy – please come back another time
  • Food and drink is not allowed in the play area - please put any litter in the bin or take it home with you

When using the play equipment, all children must be supervised by a responsible adult at all times.  To enable as many children as possible to use the equipment, no more than 1 adult should accompany each child when the play area is busy.

Hand sanitiser is not provided and you should bring your own.  Play equipment and facilities are not cleaned.
